COMMERCIAL YARD WASTE NOT ACCEPTABLE AT BREWSTER YARD WASTE FACILITY
Yard Waste created by a commercial company will no longer be accepted at the Brewster Yard Waste facility adjacent to Brewster's Bimeler Park. This includes any yard waste created by landscapers, tree services, lawn services, and so forth. This action is taken at the direction of the Stark-Tusc-Wayne Joint Solid Waste Management District and is being enforced as a measure to reduce costs for the operation of the Yard Waste Drop Off site.
Please be aware that the drop off site is monitored by cameras and is under the jurisdiction of both the Brewster Police Department and the Stark County Sheriff. Those violating this policy are subject to prosecution and a fine.
BREWSTER YARD WASTE COLLECTION SITE
The Brewster Yard Waste Drop Off site will remain open for 2022. The Stark-Tusc-Wayne Joint Solid Waste Management District will fund the sites by providing dumpsters for the removal of yard waste through a grant program. The District grant program will allot $17,095 for the Brewster site which is intended to fund the removal of yard waste at the 2021 level of 810 tons filling 162 dumpsters. The cost of removal of any yard waste above the 2021 level will be funded by Brewster. Yard waste from commercial landscapers or tree companies will not be accepted.
The drop off site is monitored by cameras, the Brewster Police Department, and the Stark County Sheriff
Accepted Yard Waste Materials: Grass clippings, garden waste, leaves, shrubs, brush, branches, stumps, Christmas trees (no tinsel) and pallets.
Unacceptable Materials: Treated wood, wooden furniture, railroad ties, carcasses, food waste, and non-organic materials such as plastic bags, mattresses, drywall and other demolition material.
These drop-offs are only to be used by residents of Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne Counties.
No materials from businesses will be accepted.
YARD WASTE DROP OFF CLOSED DURING FESTIVAL
The Brewster Yard Waste Drop Off area will be inaccessible during the Firemen’s Festival and users are cautioned about this lack of access. The Bimeler Park parking lot which provides entrance to the Yard Waste area is occupied by rides and so forth from Monday, May 30th through Sunday, June 4th. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE YARD WASTE DROP OFF DURING THAT TIME.
REMINDER: When open Yard Waste such as grass clippings, garden waste, leaves, shrubs, brush, branches, stumps, Christmas trees, and similar materials are the only accepted materials. Yard waste from commercial companies are no longer accepted at any time.
NOT ACCEPTED are any non-organic materials such as concrete, plastic, drywall, furniture, tires, and similar items as well as painted or treated wood, food waste, and demolition materials. Unacceptable materials dropped off jeopardizes the future of the Yard Waste Drop Off service as their separation and removal add an unnecessary cost to the service.
