COUNCIL OF THE WHOLE MEETING MINUTES Saturday, November 29, 2014
8 am in Brewster Council Chambers
In Attendance: Councilmen Dale Fox, Tom Hilliard, Paul Mackey, & Steve Tharp, Jr.
Mike Schwab and Consultant John Barkan
Topic: Interview of six of the ten candidates for the open Brewster Fire Chief position. Beginning at 8 am and at approximately thirty minute intervals each of the six candidates were interviewed and at the end of the interview offered an opportunity to ask any questions they may have

After the last candidate had departed the four Councilmen, Mike Schwab, and John Barkan discussed the six interviews, the approach to the interview taken by each candidate, and what each candidate would bring to the Fire Chief position and the Fire Department . All agreed that those interviewed were intelligent, articulate, and passionate about the Fire Department, and that each of the six recognized the need for structure and organization within the Department. There was some discussion about paring down the original ten candidates to two or three after the initial two interview sessions, and then having a second round of sit downs with them. Saturday, December 6th was suggested for such a second round, but nothing was scheduled.
John Barkan advised that he would be unavailable for the interview session with the remaining four candidates scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd.
No votes were taken at this meeting, nor were any of the six interviewed removed from further consideration in any way.
