March 31, 2014 - Parks and Grounds Work Session

Parks and Grounds Committee Work Session

March 31, 2014

In attendance were committee Chair Councilman Godwin, committee member Councilman Mackey, Councilman Tharp and Councilman Fox. Also in attendance the Village Mayor and Village Clerk.

The first issue on the agenda was the cracks in the pavement at the skate park, tennis court, basketball court and the walking path. Godwin had talked to the VA before the meeting and he would like to get quotes to grind, fill, seal and patch the effected areas as well as sealing the whole walking path, all agreed to get quotes.

The second issue brought forward was the Handicap swing for the front playground area. It was brought up that it was a little different from the original quote from earlier in the year. The committee consensus was that the park needed the swing. The quote was provided to the committee.

The third issue the committee looked at was a safety net for field 3 to keep soccer balls and baseballs off of the railroad tracks. The issue is balls going onto railroad property and young children chasing them on the tracks and under rail cars. Mackey and Fox agreed it was a hazard for kids. Two quotes were given. Excalibur's quote was a third of the price of the second quote.

The next issue was having 3 to 4 picnic tables placed by the concession stand and to stay thru soccer season.

The final issue was with the bad winter the outfield and fields need rolled before the up coming seasons for both baseball and soccer and to explore some sod issues at some point!

The meeting was closed at 6:50pm
