The Village of Brewster has a partnership with Efficiency Smart to bring the benefits of energy efficiency directly to Brewster Municipal Electric customers to help you reduce the cost of making energy-efficient improvements.

Efficiency Smart services include rebates for energy-efficient residential appliances and lighting, and rebates for more than 90 energy-efficient products and services for businesses. Efficiency Smart also offers technical assistance, account management services, and customized financial incentives for large commercial and industrial customers. Ready to start saving? Efficiency Smart provides technical assistance and financial incentives (including rebates) directly to customers of participating utilities to help them reduce the cost of making energy-efficient improvements.Efficiency Smart has a staff of energy specialists, engineers, market specialists and customer service representatives ready to provide assistance in identifying energy efficiency opportunities. Efficiency Smart also works with vendors, suppliers and contractors to make it easier for you to find and install products that will reduce your energy usage and lower your power bills.

How does Efficiency Smart work?

Communities that subscribe to Efficiency Smart’s services help to fund the program in return for a specific energy savings target based on the characteristics of their community. The savings achieved through energy efficiency are more cost-effective than purchasing additional power supply. Efficiency Smart tracks and reports these savings in every participating community, which are later verified by a third-party evaluator. All residential, commercial and industrial electric utility customers of the communities that have subscribed to the Efficiency Smart program are eligible for its services. Look for Efficiency Smart promotions on this website, in the mail, in your local newspapers and other places where you find community news.

Efficiency Smart – Smart Thermostats. Efficiency Smart will have special Black Friday deals on smart thermostats through the Online Product Store from 11/19 -12/4. Efficiency Smart – “Electric Bill Advice” Program. Efficiency Smart is launching a new “Electric Bill Advice” Program. Through this program, customers can contact customer support, answer some questions about their home, and receive energy saving tips and advice based on their answers.

Efficiency Smart – Rebates on Heat Pumps. Residents can learn about new rebates on air source and cold climate heat pumps.

There is a $100 Rebate on select air source heat pumps. Air source heat pumps work by absorbing heat from the outside air and transferring it into your home. Modern heat pumps can reduce electricity use for heating by approximately 50% compared to electric resistance heating such as furnaces and baseboard heaters.

There is a $750 rebate on select cold climate heat pumps. Cold climate heat pumps are designed specifically for very cold climates and can efficiently extract heat from air with temperatures far below 0°F. These heat pumps provide a very efficient way to heat homes, lower electric bills and improve comfort.
