BREWSTER VILLAGE COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING

July 22, 2016

6:30 P.M.

Brewster Village Council met in special session with Mayor Mike Schwab presiding.

6:30 P.M. – CALL TO ORDER

The Massillon Independent newspaper was provided notice of this special meeting on July 19, 2016 with the topic of hiring a new Village Administrator.

MEMBERS PRESENT:

Mike Schwab, Mayor

Dale Fox, Council Member Dave Godwin, Council Member

Chuck Hawk, Council Member Tom Hilliard, Council Member

Paul Mackey, Council Member Steven Tharp, Jr., Council Member

VILLAGE OFFICIALS/EMPLOYEES PRESENT:

Kris King, Clerk-Treasurer Keith Creter, Police Captain

AUDIENCE:

Mike Miller

ORDINANCE 24-2016: An ordinance authorizing the appointment of Michael L. Miller to the position of Brewster Village Administrator, setting his compensation, and waiving the residency requirement and declaring an emergency was given first reading.

COUNCIL MEMBER THARP MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER GODWIN and motion carried to suspend the statutory rule requiring the three separate readings and that the ordinance be brought forward for passage. The vote: Tharp, yes; Fox, yes; Godwin, yes; Hawk, abstain; Hilliard, yes; Mackey, yes. Motion passes.

COUNCIL MEMBER FOX MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER THARP and motion carried to pass Ordinance 24-2016 as presented and read. The vote: Tharp, yes; Fox, yes; Godwin, yes; Hawk, abstain; Hilliard, yes; Mackey, yes. Motion passes.

COUNCIL MEMBER FOX MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER HILLIARD and motion carried to adjourn the meeting at 6:33 p.m. The vote: All yes.
