Council of the Whole- July 2^nd, 2012

Council-members present: Duff, Godwin, Hilliard, Huff, Tharp

Mayor Schwab, Clerk King and Village Administrator Hartman were also present

 

Councilman Tharp opened the meeting at 6:01pm. The weed ordinance was discussed and Tharp stated he had no problem with it.

Next, Tharp brought up recommendations of changes to our property maintenance code from Residents he spoke to around the village.

They are:

1)      Junk on Village Property

2)      Cars/Vans on Lawns

3)      Vehicle on private property for more than 48hours

4)      Scrapping in yard/Dead End Street Traffic

5)      Paint on Homes, Buildings falling apart

Council began a discussion regarding these resident recommendations. Questions arose regarding our current ordinance and how the court interprets the wording, for ex. “Junk.” Council stated they did not want Brewster to turn into a Gated Community; All agreed. It was stated that these are ideas that council should consider. Tharp asked the Mayor to take these ideas and come up with some recommendations for council to consider for amending our current ordinance on property maintenance.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30pm.
