Streets and Sidewalks Committee

March 5, 2012 - 6:30pm

All council in present except Jay Huff, the mayor and clerk were present and in the audience Dale Fox.

Called to order by Councilman Godwin at 6:30 p.m.

Godwin “what more needs done to Mohican for the rest of the water line?"

Mayor and VA to talk to Pepper about completion of water lines.

Godwin asked if the curb estimate is that for both sides of the road?

Sherri stated there was only one bid, she would like to see the reason for the cost of traffic  control.

Godwin asked if the city pay for it or does the city access the property owner in which case, I am not happy with it.

Sherri stated we need to ask the property owner and keep them informed.

Godwin if we open this can of worms there are other streets without curbs then what?

Mayor stated we will need a town meeting in the future.

Tom stated mentioned the state is set to pave 93 in 2015.

Duff - curbing is spotty from Chestnut to Elton.

Sherry stated we only have one estimate, we need more from the VA.

Sherry says we will get a negative feedback if we don’t first talk to the home owners.

Mayor stated to add 17-20% for engineering so at least $120,000.

Steve there could be a lower bidder.

Sherry like last year.

Steve - 3 paving projects at $120,000 to $150,000 this year.

Godwin stated the levy fund isn’t going to make it much further than this year for the roads.

Mayor - figure out what you would like to see then talk to an engineer.

Duff stated a big project would be somewhere for the kids to stand during a fire drill they stand beside 62

Mayor discussed the walk to school grant.

Sherri discussed what happened last time they looked into it.

Godwin believes the name of the road that the Schools on needs to be changed toFairless   Wayor something that matches the Fairless theme.

Tom talk to the school first.

Sherri keep it affiliated with the school.

Duff addresses changing is like pounding heads together.

Mayor said he would send a letter if instructed.

Duff talk to the home owners first

Mayor said talk to a engineers first so we can give the residents a better number.

Steve 7th street has a large pot hole.
