December 17, 2013 - Economic Development Committee Meeting

Economic Development Committee

Councilman Tharp brought the committee to order. He began discussing the CRA agreement we currently had. He asked council if they had thoughts on his proposed changes to the current CRA ordinance.

Duff was concerned it would take away money from the schools that the school does not have.

Huff stated he could see both sides of the argument but requested information on the length of the CRA agreements for residential.

Hilliard felt it was too low. Tharp stated everyone in the village should have the opportunity to improve their home and take advantage of a similar agreement to what the bigger businesses take advantage of every year.

Bichsel felt it would be great to give back to the residents and liked the idea. It was agreed that more work needed to be done and that questions needed to be answered.

Tharp agreed and would look into the matter further.
