Meeting called to order by Council Member Mackey.
This meeting was called to discuss issues concerning keeping animals and birds in the Village of Brewster. This matter was brought to the attention of Village Council by some concerned citizens in the Village.
There has been a good bit of discussion and research done concerning this issue among the Village Administration. Our village Solicitor has offered suggestions from a legal perspective and other ideas have been proposed by other interested parties.
It is a challenge on the part of Council to propose a solution to the problem that is both fair and legally acceptable to the individuals involved.
It was basically agreed by Members of Council that amending our existing animal ordinance that dates back to the 1920’ s with an updated Ordinance from the Cities of Cleveland and Alliance along with a permit process that will allow the Village to monitor and assess compliance with the new Ordinance would probably be the most effective and fair way to address the growing concerns of our citizens on both sides of the issue.
Council will continue to meet on this issue until a satisfactory solution is agreed upon.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:49 P.M.
Paul Mackey, Council Member
