August 3, 2015 - Council of the Whole - Employee wage study
Meeting called to order by Council Member Mackey.
This meeting was called to discuss the research performed by HR Consultant John Barkan concerning wages and job descriptions. Mr. Barkan stated the information he was providing was to give an informational viewpoint to the administration. He discussed the "Employee Audit" he performed with all the full time employees, except the full-time Paramedic, and two part-time employees. He stated he performed confidential interviews with these employees also. From this he gathered information on what one thing the employee liked best about their job, what one thing they disliked about their job, and what one thing they would change about their employment with the Village.
Mr. Barkan then turned the meeting over to his intern, Galina, who went over the data that had been collected over the last year. She sent a survey out to 40 other AMP communities and received responses from 23 of them. The average wage of those turning in the survey was then charted in comparison to the Brewster employees' wages. There was a discussion on whether they where comparable due to required licenses and different stipends that Brewster employees have.
Council and the employees asked questions and voiced concerns.
Meeting adjourned at 7:21pm.
