COUNCIL OF THE WHOLE MINUTES

BREWSTER VILLAGE COUNCIL

October 13, 2015

Council Member Mackey opened the meeting.

The meeting was held to discuss the Police Department wages, as well as the proposed stand-by /on-call ordinance and emergency call out legislation.

Council Member Hilliard had requested a purer comparison for the Police Department wages. Our department was compared to similar departments. Mr. Barkan used a traditional law enforcement ratio of officer per population. The conclusion was that the Village was providing more protection for less money. Wage increases were discussed along with affordability.

The stand-by/on-call and emergency call out pay ordinances were discussed and it was decided that another meeting and more clarification were needed before a decision could be made. Council Member Tharp will schedule another Council of the Whole meeting to further the conversation at the next scheduled Council meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
