2024 Tusc Paving contract

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZNG THE AWARDING OF A CONTRACT FOR THE

2024 BREWSTER PAVING PROJECT

 

WHEREAS, Brewster Village Council desires to repave Village streets in 2024 through a 2024 Brewster Paving Project, and

 

WHEREAS, the advertisement for Bids for the completion of a 2024 Brewster Paving Project has been completed in accordance with all applicable laws, and

 

WHEREAS, Alternate 1 in the 2024 Paving Program is Tuscarawas Ave NW from Locustdale to Chestnut, and

 

WHEREAS, the award of Alternate 1, Tuscarawas Ave NW from Locustdale to Chestnut, could  occur until either the Village had been eliminated from OPWC Small Government Funding competition or received OPWC Small Government funding and has signed an agreement with OPWC; and

 

WHEREAS, It has been determined that Barbicas Construction Co., Inc. of Akron, Ohio was the lowest and best bidder for the 2024 Brewster Paving Program for Alternate 1.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BREWSTER, THAT:

 

SECTION 1: Brewster Village Council awards a contract to Barbicas Construction Co., Inc. of Akron,Ohio for the paving of Tuscarawas Street NW from Locustdale to Chestnut in accordance with the Village specifications on which the bids were received for a contract price of $69,220.50, with the final amount to be determined based on actual quantities and bid prices.  

                                                                 

SECTION 2: The Village Administrator and Village Clerk-Treasurer are authorized and directed to execute the contract Barbicas Construction Co., Inc. of Akron, Ohio for the completion of the 2024 Brewster Paving Program in accordance with the specifications on which the Bids were received. An executed copy of the Contract shall be kept on file in the Village Clerk-Treasurer’s Office.

 

SECTION 3: This legislation is being passed as an emergency, as the Village has already awarded the 2024 Paving Project contract to Barbicas Construction Co., Inc. of Akron, Ohio, and the commencement of paving pursuant to that contract is imminent, and it is in the best interest of the Village to have Tuscarawas paved at the same time as cross streets Locustdale, Pinewood, and Chestnut to minimize seems that could lead to premature deterioration of the pavement on all those streets.

 

SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect at the earliest date provided by law.

Kris King, Clerk of the Council of the Village of Brewster, State of Ohio, do hereby certify that there is no newspaper printed in said municipality and that publication of the foregoing ordinance was duly made by posting true copies thereof at five of the most public places in said corporation as determined by Council as follows: Office of Brewster Utilities, Brewster Barber Shop, Brewster Federal Credit Union, Post Office and Brewster Laundromat.
