VILLAGE OFFICIALS:

Kris King, Clerk-Treasurer                             Michael L. Miller, Village Administrator

The meeting was called to discuss projects in the park and around town.  Councilman Godwin had called the meeting but had a bad fall on the ice earlier in the day and couldn’t attend.  He provided an email with his plans and ideas.

The first topic was a workout station in the park.  It would be 10 stations on a rubberized pad centered between fields 2, 3, and 4, near the children’s play area.  The total project cost was a little under $49,000.  The VA applied for a grant for $36,979, the Village match would be $5,400 with an additional $6,800 in Village labor.  The Village was tentatively awarded $19,525.  This would leave the Village with a balance of $17,377 plus labor.  Councilman Godwin wrote that he was recommending paying the Village’s balance from Capital Projects.  Councilman Hilliard and Mayor Schwab recommend the money come out of the Parks and Grounds Fund.  Councilman Hilliard is also recommending the project be scaled back.  VA Miller is checking with ODNR to see how that would affect our award.

Councilman Godwin is recommending removing the mulch around the street tree in front of Belloni Foods and replace it with stone.  VA Miller stated the stones would end up in the street and give individuals something to throw.

Next on his list is a new concession stand.  He suggests removing the old Little League concession stand and build one three times the size with restrooms.  The Village Administrator will look for grants.  He was told to check with Beach City.  VA Miller stated he would probably need to have specifications prepared before applying for a grant.

VA Miller stated that 4 or 5 sweetgum trees need removed from the park.  Councilman Hilliard stated that a couple loads of gravel need added at the yard waste.

Councilman Godwin mentioned getting banners for the light poles similar to those that were used the summer of the centennial.  VA Miller will look into them.

Councilman Hawk brought up the fire station addition.  The consensus from the Fire Planning Committee meeting was to put a ½ % income tax issue on the ballot in May of 2019.  Councilman Hilliard stated that if the Fire Department income tax levy passes that maybe the Association would refurbish the Firemen’s Pavilion and add restrooms and add a side for rentals.

Meeting adjourned at 6:28 pm.
